If you have read our blog for awhile, you know that I have a love of vintage pull down school maps. Ive even made a few myself since they are usually way out of our price range. Imagine my surprise when my hubby came home with 6 of them a couple of weeks ago that he picked up at a garage sale in the rain. Talk about luck. We kept 3 and the other 3 are going up for sale in our shop. They are all absolutely gorgeous and date from the 1940s to 1960. And their condition is amazing. So are their colors. One of the maps is exactly the color scheme that we have in our master bedroom/home office.

So, of course, thats where I put it. I dont usually include this little home office corner of our master bedroom in photos because, well, Ive never been very happy with it. I mean, who wants a computer, printer and all that mess in the bedroom. Not me. Id love to have a separate room for our office but this is what we have and we just try to make it work. But I am loving the map in this space. Its the first thing I see when I wake up in the morning which makes me happy.
These photos arent the best because I had to take them at night. We are working day and night practically to have our shop ready for its grand opening this Saturday, October 13. Wow, I cant believe that its almost here. :)
We are trying to make our Grand Opening Celebration really special. I showed you this table in my dining room fall decor post that I put together using bowling alley floor remnants and plumbing pipe. We will be giving it away during a drawing in the store Saturday.
We will also have snacks and beverages for those that wander in. This will be a very special day for us and we want our customers to feel special, as well.
I will be sharing photos of the store later in the week. We arent quite finished setting everything up so stay tuned. And I really hope some of you will make the trip and stop in and say hi!
Have a wonderful day....

Hello! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Our Grand Opening was a huge success and I wanted to share a few photos with you of the big day. I was so glad to have friends and family there to take photos for me. We couldnt have asked for a better day, except that I wish our oldest son would have been there to enjoy it with us. Unfortunately, he had to work. But I know he really wanted to be there.
I really wanted to make our customers feel special so I thought refreshments would be nice. Here I am getting the table ready before we opened the door.
I have a friend who has a daughter who loves to bake cupcakes so I hired her to bake 100 mini cupcakes for our customers. They were completely gone in a couple of hours. I served apple cider, as well.
We were completely shocked by the number of customers we had. We were truly blessed.
While my hubby is a genuine people person and very outgoing, I have somewhat of a social phobia and was quite nervous. But I truly enjoyed meeting the customers that took some time out of their day to come by. It meant so much to us.
I feel blessed that I get to work along side my hubby. It was a rough few months but we finally got it all done and are open for business. Starting this new adventure is something we have been talking about and planning for several years. It is such a rewarding feeling to see our hard work pay off.
I want to say thank you to all of you for your encouraging comments and emails. This truly couldnt have happened without your encouragement and support along the way. :) Even with the struggles...what an amazing journey this is.....
Up next.....Im finally finishing up my oldest sons room redo! And I have some exciting things to share...soon!
Have a great day!

Hello! I hope you all had a great weekend!
We are finally making some progress on the new shop. Remember when I said we had a wonderful opportunity come our way involving a great old building right smack
in the heart of our quaint little town?
Well here it is!
(Ignore the ginormous pots of trees, they are getting picked up.)
This building is amazing. The area is amazing and we are honestly so thrilled.
We are making a huge life change to go for our dreams and it is so exciting and scary at the same time but I think thats what life is about, you know?
Taking a chance and going for what truly makes you happy.

We still have a lot to do,
even though the inside doesnt really need anything but painting and cleaning.
Heres a view from the inside.
