SPARKLES beaded chandelier

Cracked glass bead work was added along side the already draping lines of this chandelier.
Now she is glamorous, really for the first time in her life.
I find hand stringing with fine wire much easier than fishing line.
As long as you use a fine line, it will drape just the same and is stronger.
The original taupe color (seen below)
was replaced with a brilliant white enamel gloss spray paint.
The frosted glass shades were completely removed and will be used for another project
in the future.

NOT A PEARL NECKLACE ANYMORE pearl chandelier

With the evening temperatures getting chillier I`ve found some time
to sit quietly, snuggled up in my favorite corner of the house and finish beading this chandelier.
I started a while ago and offered a few tips at that time which can be found here
This was a vintage chandelier we purchased at a yard sale last year
and the pearl beads were found at another sale this year.
When I came across them I knew right then what I was going to use them for.
These are 2 inspiration photos I`ve been keeping around for just such an occasion.
I used all different shapes and sizes stringing them on fishing line.
All the metal is painted in a fresh crisp white including the shell shapes
that were originally gold and the embellishment on napkin rings.

I COPIED THE BELLORA CHANDELIER pottery barn chandelier makeover

I have a small obsession with the Bellora Chandelier at Pottery Barn
So I made my own.
Heres the before.
Supplies and Tools included:
I painted the whole chandelier brown, then over sprayed it with
the black till it was the color I wanted.
I used the dremel to drill holes in the metal of the chandelier
so I could screw the eye hooks into.
I made my own hangers for my acrylic balls.
I just may look for some smooth glass ornament balls at Christmas
time to replace these acrylic prisms I used.
I LIKE IT!!

THIS LITTLE PINKY pink chandelier

Ive been able to get a few projects underway around here just for us.
70% of our Christmas decorations put away, only because Im doing a full re-organizing of them all.
Weve had our first big snow fall Saturday, more on Monday and still more forecasted this week.
Not typical for a Vancouver winter.
I did take advantage of the pristine white snow when photographing this daring
chandelier I just finished.
Just last week it was warm enough to spray paint outside and have it dry in 10 minutes.
I only do chandeliers every now and then because they
can take countless hours of painting and embellishing.
Someone did try to DIY this one before I got it but they must have lost steam.
I used a soft pretty pink spray paint from Krylon.
The 5 light arms are lined with several meters of garland beads secured with nylon line.
I added the metal crown feature at the top stolen from my electrical parts department.
** Parts Department = Rubbermaid bin sitting on the shelf **
The hanging beads and flower embellishments I used on this chandelier
were all purchased at Michaels for a pretty penny.
But I had a goal and Im extremely pleased with the finished look.
The flowers are a translucent acrylic material.
Hand made in Thailand, each petal is stitched around a center crystal.
They are extremely cool.

PEARLS FOR A CHANDELIER chandelier beading tips

This time around Im using pearls to bead a chandelier.
I want to drape it with tonnes of beads and in the hopes it looks stunning but you
wont find it finished here. Ive only been working on it a couple hours and they
take a long time to finish.
I want to offer some tips as I know one or two of you want to try this yourselves.
Organize your beads, these little suckers like to bounce all over the place.
Anticipate if one slips out of your fingers where will it fall to.
I use a shaggy rug underneath to catch them rather then listening to beads
bounce their way under the furniture or down the hall for Georges feet
to find in the dark of night on his way to the bathroom.
Keep track of how many of each you have so youre not short before you string that last bead.
Trial and error I figure out the look I want by holding different patterns of
strung beads up to the chandelier before finally committing and tieing it off.
I have a hook in the ceiling where I hang my chandelier to work on.
I use a long piece of chain so I can sit in my office chair while working
at a comfortable height.
The chandelier can be raised up when Im not working on it.
When ever I have some spare time in the evening I can sit
down string some more beads while listening to what ever
George has decided to watch on TV.
I also have a hook out side where I can hang the chandelier
to be painted.
Heads up for all those local followers and subscribers
George has decided this Saturday we are having a
His 2 daughters are coming to visit soon and we need to lighten the load around here.
I still have quite a bit of *stuff* hanging around from years ago
that needs a new home as well as time to clear out many
furniture pieces that Im never going to get to.
Ill post more about it over the next days.
