With the evening temperatures getting chillier I`ve found some time
to sit quietly, snuggled up in my favorite corner of the house and finish beading this chandelier.
I started a while ago and offered a few tips at that time which can be found here
This was a vintage chandelier we purchased at a yard sale last year
and the pearl beads were found at another sale this year.
When I came across them I knew right then what I was going to use them for.
These are 2 inspiration photos I`ve been keeping around for just such an occasion.
I used all different shapes and sizes stringing them on fishing line.
All the metal is painted in a fresh crisp white including the shell shapes
that were originally gold and the embellishment on napkin rings.

This week was suppose to be my week off.
Ive been working crazy for over a month preparing for last weekend
and the 2 shows my furniture and other stuff was in.
Both George and I agreed it was much needed time off.
My plan was to clean up the house after the tornado of work and
start the Christmas decorating around here.
I did get started on the decorating on Monday being ever so creative
and doing up our Faux mantle.
We have a large piece of furniture that simulates the look,
and these are the photos Im sharing with you today.
But while I write to you there is only one thing one my mind
and if you wish to follow along Ill tell you the story.
Unfortunately early last week I had a tooth start to ache and
also agreed to get in to have it looked at this week.
Well the appointment was set for Wednesday to have a look see what was going on.
Then Thursday the next appointment was set to fill the cavity.
Later Thursday evening we had been invited to the pub where my 2 commissioned red buffets
were being used. Well the appointment at the dentist on Thursday took a terrible
turn for the worse and there was no way I could attend the customer appreciation party last night.
The cavity got too close to the root and so did the drilling.
It was then agreed upon the tooth had to come out.
Little did I know how much pain I was going to be in that evening.
A temporary filling was put in till the tooth could be pulled at the set appointment
on Tuesday next week.
Pain killers werent working and I couldnt think straight for the agony I was in.
So between George and I we had to get on the phone with the dentist to get some resolution.
George couldnt see me in this kind of pain for 5 days and I know Im strong
and stubborn but I couldnt do it either.
The resolution is the extraction appointment was moved up to this afternoon,
but in all this turmoil I just couldnt stand not working.
Having my mind and body on auto pilot would do me good
while I painted something, so last night I threw down everything
in my way and stormed the hall way to my work space.
I cant eat anything on that side of my mouth, pain killers
arent doing much good, and I just couldnt put George through
watching the pain in my eyes.
So I grabbed a paint brush and some paint and set forth.
So much for my week of relaxation.
Till the wee hours in the morning I worked steadily on painting a
big dresser in grey, and it did me good.
George was able to get to sleep on his own not worrying
and my mind was able to fly away from the place it had been.
For now the dresser project will be my safe haven while
dealing with my tooth issues this weekend. There will be several more days
of soft foods, pain killers, and gauze once the extraction takes place today.
I only choose to share this story with you to emphasize how much I enjoy
what this part of my life has put before me.
Ive always embraced each and every task Ive had to this point in my life,
but my furniture and artistic abilities are truly a life long passion
that I seek comfort in.
So I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of you again for the support
you offer each and every day while I chase this passion and ...
watch for a big grey dresser coming soon.

There are a lot of ppl out there that refinish furniture,
and it would seem that that is what I do as well however
I like to think of myself as a furniture rescuer.
And like many professionals I have a uniform I wear when I go to work
I have many tools of the trade and every now and then I get the call to come rescue??
some tired piece of furniture someone still sees hope in.
Here is one of those calls:
Ive got a super, super old piece that might do well with some love from you! Its kind of like a bookshelf - maybe it used to be a cabinet of some sort. Its pretty beat up - dont know if its valuable - but thought that if anyone could make it beautiful again, you would be a pretty good bet. I think it might be fir - its got kind of an art deco feel to it - the top front edge is rounded. It seems to have quite a few layers of paint on it - and the back is completely toast - it seems to just be a piece of fibre board or something cheap like that.

drawer, toe kick, and back removed - legs added |
Christine didnt want any money and if I wasnt interested she was going to
listing it on Craigs list free section later that week.
She genuinely wanted to see this saved and why not? It was a good piece of solid wood furniture that has served many homes
for over 50 years.
It had been painted many times probably to match each decade it lived thru.

These old bed slats were perfect for the back of the shelf,
just measured, cut, and nailed in place.
I really dont understand how they would have ever supported a queen bed
as thin as they were, maybe thats why they were curbside in the first place.
I used my grinder to create different levels of the old paint.
I sprayed the whole unit with ASCP in old white,
then sanded it back to show its age, and gave it a waxing from head to toe.
I really love how vintage this project turned out.
*************************************************************One last thing to get you moving this fine Saturday morning:
The Shore 104.3 FM team partnered with the Vancouver Adapted Music Society (VAMS) and The Canadian Music Therapy Trust Fund to produce this second installment of Music Saves.
This is something I listen to often while I work.

I want to say this was a simple revamp I did on this recent find,
however this piece is anything but simple.
All the ladies in the shop we found this table in, had ideas of
purchasing the table themselves but agreed it was very dated in appearance.
Who wouldnt fall in love with her shape and style.
Some prep work,
A bit of primer,
A little bit of paint,
And a good polish,
has made her sing once again.
I do believe this table was made by a craftsman and is not a
production line manufactured piece making it one of a kind.
This beautifully entry table is currently listed on the AVAILABLE page.
