I started writing this post several days ago
just as something was hitting me and hitting me hard,
which Ill explain at the end.
I completed this slipper chair with the help of
my sister awhile back, that post can be seen here.
The purchasers of this chair also requested a matching ottoman.
Taya and Matt are a lovely young couple and repeat customers.
I had the matching fabric and a couple of useful pieces waiting for redo.
The question would be ... would one of them work?
Attempt one, was too small,
Attempt two, was too tall,
Attempt three, was just right.
If you look closely you might realize this ottoman was made from
the only salvageable part of another arm chair, with great legs.
Ive been MIA for the last few days due to a case of severe strep
throat. If you have ever been afflicted with this condition I now
understand and sympathize. I couldnt talk, eat, swallow, and the
worst part for me was not thinking straight due to a high fever for
36hrs straight. After a midnight visit to the hospital and high doses
of medication, the doc says it will take a few more days till I
started to feel normal again and Im still having trouble eating and
drinking but Im definitely back, with a funny sounding voice.

Last visit to Homesense happened to be a quick
stop while we were on a peaceful drive to get away
from the hustle and bustle of life and work. As both
George and I work at home a great deal in the
evenings sometimes we just take off for a quiet
drive and enjoy an ice cappuchino from Tim Hortons.
Recently I had mentioned out loud wanting a bird
cage. I had really wanted one for a long time but
never mentioned it. With my retail job Ive been all
over the Fraser Valley as well as different locations
through out the country and really just never see them.
Well during this last stop at Homesense we meandered around
the store together close to closing time, George would pop
in and out of the isles showing me things he saw.
Then just as we rounding the final lap to the finish
line he popped into the isle again this time with a
beautiful white birdcage in hand.
I gasped and immediately said
"I WANT IT!"
Then common sense took over and I asked
"HOW MUCH?"
Turned out to be $40, come on!
Well I still wanted it.
While this whole thought process was going on
George popped in with another bird house of a
different color and style. Now I was even more
excited at options. Be careful what you wish for.
Before the whole thing was done we musta found
close to a dozen different styles, sizes and colors.
And different prices.
Including this pretty pretty turquoise one and it was only $15*** SOLD ***
Another find that evening was this great
*FLYING THE WORLD*
mini suitcase.
We also got our large oval clock that youve seen in the past
and a few book boxes at Homesense.
Before I go I want to share with you some encouragement I received from
AMY from MAISON DECOR
She painted her beautiful mirror frame pink and
encouraged me when I told her I didnt quite have
the nerve to do mine.
Well I was finally able to find a bit of time Mothers
day morning and went for it. Happy Mothers day to me.
Mines blue, its bold, its finished, and its brilliant.
Did you notice it also matches the bird cage?
Muahahahahah!
A tutorial of this mirror can be found here.

I am way behind on the picture frames. When I started them I had hoped to have them all wrapped up by now. No such luck. It has been so cold that my shop time is minimal.
I have drilled, countersunk, and installed 90 of the 100 pennies that hold the inner frame into the outer. I hope to finish the other 10 today, plus sanding. That leaves staining and finishing. I dont think that can all be done on Saturday. I may be able to finish them on Christmas day. After that I will be going out of town for a few days.

She creeped into my dreams last night so first thing this morning I checked my work schedule
finding it was going to be light so away I went to rescue her from the left overs in the yard sale tent.
Some of you know we hosted a fairly good and definetly fun yard sale this past weekend,
in the RAIN!
We met lots of great ppl and some of my followers.
Leigh and George got to chat extensively about both their european trip tours.
Leigh is such a nice lady and is looking for antique wood corbels.
Does anyone local have suggestions?
Victoria and Pursie stopped in with family. I got to have a great chat and share some other
projects going on inside.
Sis and KC were a big help especially after we all attended a spa party Friday night
that ran quite late for our early Saturday morning start.
Now to the project at hand.
She was already painted white but tired and chipping exposing the cream color
painted underneath.
I spent the beautiful sunny day hand sanding all the details and belt sanding the top
down to bare wood to take the walnut stain.
New perfect hardware, and a walnut stain wash all over the body really finish this piece off.
BUT WAIT!
its not really finished till it gets a beautiful sprayed clear coat tomorrow.
UPDATE:
the finished piece with kewl drawer liners can be seen here

1 fabulous balloon back chair upholstered in a durable pink floral with nailhead trim,
and
1 vintage desk chair with carved details, painted and upholstered in bright white.
The reclaimed fabric used on this chair is a soft cord in beige with a
bright white lace strip and floral print in pinks.
The frame is painted in bright white with distressing to
show the nature wood underneath, a great shabby chic look.
The upholstery chosen for this second chair comes from a set of white
quilted pillow shams and has a beautiful raised floral print.
The entire chair has been painted in white over soft grey and distressed back
to show signs of the grey.
